Our Democracy has become threatened by corporate and lobbyist undue influence on elections and politicians. The only way to restore a true democracy is to have our political leaders free from the influence of money to support their campaigns. Last week 60 minutes interviewed the now recalcitrant Jack Abramoff. His solution is to not allow lobbyists to come from ex-Congressmen or staffers. That is only a piecemeal reform. It is time for PUBLIC FINANCING of elections, without loopholes. So I created a petition which says: "I support the public financing of all elections. No more corporate, lobbyist or private funds to be used for campaigns to elect or reelect our public servants." Unfortunately the powers to be have made them not so peaceful for the demonstrators. You don't need to have them all march just in one area. It needs to go viral and be as big as the demonstrations that stopped the Vietnam war. It needs to come from the universities, the unions, and we the people who have had to bail out the fat cats who have abused the system way to long. Let us not forget the junk bonds debacle of the 1980's that we ended up having to pay for. If we the people can stop a war we can stop this as well. If I were you I would do some research on the the logistics on putting anything like this together. Remember the million man march. As my significant other says, google it. Remember what is going on with the Arab spring. If there are major protests in every city in this country maybe people will get off there hindquarters and vote for representatives that represent we the people.
